Tempe bus crash

Tempe police say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in a serious crash that involved a city bus Sunday night.

The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Priest and Baseline roads.

A total of six people were taken to the hospital.

Police tell ABC15, the driver of a Camaro tried to make a right hand turn onto Baseline Road when he slammed into the side of a city bus.

Three of the eight people on board the bus suffered minor injuries, including the bus driver.

Three young men were in the Camaro. One was thrown from the car. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle. Their current conditions are unknown at this time.

Police say they found beer cans in and around the Camaro.

Traffic was tied up for several hours while police investigated and worked to clear the scene.
