The mission of Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber’s Women in Business is to provide programs and opportunities in leadership development, education and networking for women in business. For the past 16 years they have continued to expand and improve their commitment to making a difference.
Women in Business hosts monthly luncheons, an annual Back to Business Expo and the annual Red, White and Beautiful vendor event. These programs provide information, mentoring and networking activities that provide business connections and teach skills in areas such as leadership, conflict resolution, accountability, negotiating, sales and performance-to-goals that enhance self esteem.
“The programs that WIB offers are geared to help women successfully find harmony and learn,” said Christie Ellis, co-chair Women in Business. “We are in charge of many tasks and finding a way to learn from other successful women, who are both speakers and attendees, has been very helpful.”
Women in Business brings together people committed to the economic vitality of the Ahwatukee area in an environment of mutual support, learning, and collective action. They are dedicated to supporting economic opportunities for women of all ages and seek to be a resource for young women new to business and working women looking to increase their skills or grow their businesses.
In keeping with their mission of providing support for the business endeavors of women, each year the Women in Business awards scholarships to women who are pursuing their education, whether in college, trade school, online courses or continuing education classes. In 2015, five $1,000 scholarships were awarded.
Women in Business encourages value-centered leadership and management practices, and strategies that reinforce a broad definition of success that includes the employees, the organization, and the community. The monthly luncheons are a great opportunity to hear a presentation and connect with other women.
The 2016 luncheon series kicks off at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 19 at the Foothills Golf Club. Carmen Parks, self-belief coach and author, will present “6 Steps to Reaching your Goals Faster, Easier and Without Unnecessary Stress.” The presentation will help attendees become “unstuck” by helping them identify limiting beliefs and learn how to believe in themselves and successfully reach their goals.
Women in Business is one of the most active business groups in Ahwatukee. Women In Business celebrates the success of our women leaders who come together at their programs to connect, share their stories and serve as an inspiration to one another. We invite you to get involved in our community.
