Q: Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?
A: I’m originally from the Chicago suburbs, I relocated to Scottsdale in 1999 to pursue a degree in Holistic Healthcare and Massage Therapy, specializing in rehabilitation. My background as a competitive figure skater made it a natural choice to work within the fitness and wellness industry. Over the past 10 years I have divided my time between my private fitness coaching company, television hosting, fitness modeling assignments, competing for Fitness America pageants and writing for several magazines providing fitness advice.
Q: Why did you open your business in Ahwatukee Foothills?
A: I was a Scottsdale resident for 10 years and relocated to Ahwatukee this past January as my fiancé’ is a resident here. I wanted to start a fitness motivation group/boot camp here in the mornings, as well as become a member of the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce to get more involved in my community. My Med Spa & Fitness Center, however, is located in the Scottsdale Airpark.
Q: How did you get the idea to open your business?
A: I’ve wanted to have my own day spa and fitness center since I graduated college. It was important for me to acquire the 10 years experience I have in order to be at the level I am currently. I have worked with everyone from the average fitness enthusiast to overseeing professional athletes training programs.
Q: What type of merchandise/services do you sell?
A: C May Performance Center truly is your “one-stop shop” when it comes to positive transformation from the inside-out. Our services include: fitness training programs and innovative classes, massage therapy, skincare, laser hair removal, professional counseling, nutrition, empowerment classes, adrenal stress testing, medical grade supplementation and personal growth seminars.
Q: What does your business offer that no one else does?
A: It took me two months to acquire the staff I currently have. I interviewed over 70 people. It was extremely important for me to take on individuals who possess good character, integrity and high moral values to create the positive and inviting environment I envisioned. With that said, we have only been open for one month and the sole reason for our success is due to this. If you truly focus on the betterment of the individual, the money and success will follow. I will forever operate my business this way.
Q: How have residents of the community responded to your business?
A: We have had a great response! The Scottsdale Airpark consists of more than 60,000 businesses. I have made an enormous effort in being a great support system to my neighbors by attending their events and networking. Helping each other succeed is what it’s all about.
Q: What does your business have in store for the future?
A: I am currently working with a woman who worked for the state in creating programs for children and domestic violence victims. P.E. classes are being pushed out of schools and domestic violence is rapidly increasing. There is a huge need for fitness and empowerment seminars in regards to these groups especially! I don’t want to be just another med spa and fitness center. It’s important for me to create programs that make a difference and support positive growth in individuals, no matter what age they may be.
Q: Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?
A: Even though Scottsdale is at least a 25-minute drive, it’s worth your time to come up and check us out! We’d love to have you.
