After spending the past TWO DECADES specializing in antidepressants I would contend that you are in total denial as so many other "professionals" are. This is why the largest single group I have who are suffering the very worst side effects of antidepressants are medical professionals! You can check our database of thousands of cases to see what I mean by Googling "SSRIstories". Andrea Yates was the third nurse in a row in a three month period to go to court for killing her children while taking an antidepressant. And while she was in court a female doctor in IL stabbed her two young sons while on Effexor, one of the same antidepressants Andrea had been taking. And in case you are unaware "homicidal ideation" is a listed side effect of Effexor. Those warnings are NOT put on a label for just "a couple of negative studies"!
My book on antidepressants has 21 pages of references to medical research (averaging about 30 - 40 studies per page) demonstrating that increasing serotonin with antidepressants is about the worst thing you can do to a person suffering depression or anxiety. In other words the medical research is overwhelming!
The ONLY reason any patient stays on an antidepressant is because they are so incredibly habit forming with horrific delayed withdrawal which sends most patients running back to a doctor begging for more whenever they try to quit. Sad that they remain unaware that if they withdraw EXTREMELY slowly - taking about half the amount of time on the drug to wean off they can successfully make it without going psychotic - generally a manic-psychosis. This is the real reason why every third person you meet any more is diagnosed Bipolar!Mar 26, 2012
