Well ... that was graceful.
Monday we launched our “Best Of Ahwatukee 2013” ballot online and, as many of you noticed, experienced technical problems.
This surprised us because the third party vendor we used to host the ballot is quite reputable, does contests like this all over the country, and had not experienced these technical problems before.
We in the AFN office even tested the ballot the week prior to launch and we did not experience these issues. So we did not anticipate the problems we encountered this week.
I know it was frustrating for those of you who could not log in to vote. I know it was even more frustrating for those of you who then contacted the AFN office looking for answers when we didn’t have any yet. It took a couple days of troubleshooting to even pinpoint what the problem was.
But the good news is we figured it out. I’ll spare you the boring technical details but ultimately it came down to an issue with cookies. And not the delicious kind.
The ballot is now fixed, but there may be some of you who are still experiencing residual problems from the initial login kerfuffle. I encourage those of you who are to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will work to get it resolved as soon as possible.
And for those of you who were concerned that you missed out on a week’s worth of voting, we’re going to make it up to you. We’ve decided to extend the voting period by five days, so the contest now ends at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27.
So, now it’s safe to tell your friends, your family, and, if you’re a business owner, your customers to visit www.ahwatukee.com/best_of to vote! Take two!
And as always, we thank you for your participation and your patience.
