It may not be the pot o’ gold, but Keegan’s Grill has the next best thing.
Since the restaurant has been celebrating St. Patrick’s Day for the past 20 years, it has served up more than 24,000 plates of the Irish staple, corned beef and cabbage. On Wednesday, March 17, the lucky person who orders the 25,000th plate will receive a $100 Keegan’s gift card.
“That’s a lot of corned beef,” said Julie Zahara, general manager of the Ocotillo location.
In addition, starting at 3:17 p.m. and ending precisely 31.7 minutes later, Keegan’s will be offering $1 green Bud Light. Also, $2.50 Bud Light and Ultra draft beers will flow all day and night.
“It’s going to be a very exciting half hour, with generously flowing green beer,” Zahara said.
The corned beef and cabbage lunch special is $9.95. The corned beef and cabbage dinner special, which includes an Irish potato soup or house salad, is $11.95.
New to the menu are beer flights, three 5.5-ounce drafts for $6, or $5 during happy hour. Beers on tap include Moose Drool Brown Ale and Babington’s English Ale. Zahara said wine flights are soon to follow.
Keegan’s has its happy hour from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, and a reverse happy hour from 8 p.m. to close every night. Specials include half-price appetizers, $5 wine list and $2.50 domestic draft, house wine and well drinks.
Also making its menu debut is a new dessert, the cup-a-cake, which is a dense chocolate zucchini walnut cake and a scoop of ice cream is served in a latte cup.
“It’s fun and quite worth the calories,” Zahara said.
