For some women the joys of being a mother mean forgoing other things like their social lives, but when Ahwatukee Foothills resident and mother Angie Krieger saw her own social life dwindling away she turned the predicament into a savvy business idea.

Krieger’s new business, Divas Driving Divas, will launch this weekend. The concept: a chauffeur service exclusively for women living in Ahwatukee Foothills and the surrounding areas. All of Krieger’s chauffeurs are also women, and nights of operation for the business are Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

“I’m a single mom with two kids, and I felt like I didn’t have a social life because I didn’t want to risk having a couple drinks and driving home,” she said. “It deterred me from ever going out.”

After talking with her friends, Krieger found that many other women were dealing with the same problem.

“I have one friend who actually got a DUI after having two beers on the night of the Super Bowl,” she said.

Krieger and her friends knew that taking a taxi home from bars was always an option, but they sometimes found the taxi ride home to be a dark and intimidating experience. From that thought, the idea of Divas Driving Divas was born.

“We’re going to be using regular cars, and all of the drivers are women and have been friends of mine for years,” she said. “The niche I’m trying for is to help women feel safe and secure.”

Krieger plans on keeping her prices affordable with a flat rate of $15 one-way and $30 for two-way service from the customer’s residence to their destination and back home again.

“My business is going to be on a more personal level than taxi services and I’m going to be building some strong relationships with consistent customers,” she said. “I’m willing to accommodate as many women as I need. I can have two cars or 10 cars out on a given night depending on what customers need.”

Divas Driving Divas will serve all of Ahwatukee Foothills and extend to the restaurants and bars just over Interstate 10 in Chandler.

Krieger hopes that women in the area will take advantage of her business and go out and enjoy time with their friends safely.

“With the safety issues and expenses incurred from a DUI, it’s not worth it to drink and drive,” she said. “I think women will feel like they can relax in our cars if they are being driven by women.”

Women interested in using Divas Driving Divas are encouraged to call or e-mail ahead to make reservations so that Krieger can plan the proper number of cars and drivers to have available for a given night. For more information, call (602) 794-7435 or e-mail Krieger at divasdrivingdivas@yahoo.com.
