On Oct. 15, the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department lifted the ban on charcoal and wood fires in the city’s mountain and desert preserves but is maintaining the ban on smoking outside of enclosed vehicles. Visitors can now use charcoal in established grills and have open fires in fire rings in picnic areas and can continue to use propane and gas grills.
The weather is slowly getting cooler and more ghosts and pumpkins are starting to appear, but for several Ahwatukee Foothills families, the goblins and zombies have been on their minds for weeks already.
Pearl was originally found as a stray in Apache Junction. She’s been waiting a few months for a new home. She would love a home where she can have a regular feeding and exercise routine. Pearl could benefit from dropping a few pounds and now that the weather is nicer a walk here and there would be nice for her. Pearl is estimated to be about 3 years old. She is a real sweetheart of a girl. She seems to get along well with dogs. She is believed to be a Hound/Lab mix? Pearl is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped.
Money may or may not be able to buy happiness, but a new WalletHub report shows that, on average, Arizonans are somewhat less happy with their lives than much of the rest of the nation. And part of the state's ranking at No. 31 is because income is below the national average and is not growing.
Our community has seen its fair share of monsoon storms over the years, but when the remnants of Hurricane Norbert rolled through the Valley on Sept. 8, Phoenix neighborhoods saw record-breaking rainfall and historic flooding.
Due to last Monday’s huge storm, it actually rained on the inside of our house for awhile. Water found a way between floors and began to stream through the ceiling on the first floor while leaving soggy carpet in the room directly above. And I had just been feeling confident because our pool hadn’t overflowed.
Wow, all that rain. Have you passed by the Lakes “golf course” since the storm? The lake is back and almost full. Where would all that water have gone if a builder had “red tile roofed” the area? (Maybe into your kitchen or pool)?
The record rainfall recently should leave NO doubt about why The Lakes Golf Course, built in a NATURAL drainage should remain a golf course (or a park or flood retention basin). But perhaps Pulte has plans for stilt homes or a Venetian style canal development.
