You won’t find many Dr. Seuss books in the hands of high school students. But the books’ messages can inspire for a lifetime, like this one: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
The sun has just set. From where I sit, up on a ridge, I hear music from two simultaneous song sessions filling the Valley below. When campfires turn to embers, youngsters will peel themselves away from the festivities and make their drowsy way to their bunks. Their dreams will no doubt be filled with obstacle courses and tie-dye, hikes and ropes courses. Another day at summer camp is done.
It’s summertime! Time for beer, brats, baseball and the beach. It’s also time to be sure that your kids AND dogs are safe around water. For many Valley residents, most homes come equipped with a swimming pool. It’s important that your dog learn how to get out of the pool if they fall in.
Let’s face it: the best antidote for a sweltering summer day is a dive in the swimming pool. Metropolitan Phoenix boasts more than 400,000 swimming pools, proof that we love nothing more than a refreshing dip as the temperatures climb.
