While Summit School of Ahwatukee’s regular classes are already in session, registration is still open for its Toddler Discovery program for families who would like their children to begin their education at an early age.
The Bank of America Charitable Foundation announced that five Valley-area high school students have been selected to take part in the 2014 Student Leaders program, which awards a total of 220 community-minded high school juniors and seniors from around the country with paid eight-week summer internships at local branches of the Boys & Girls Club.
It’s tough for Andrea Benkel to pinpoint her favorite part of her job as director of early childhood development at Summit School of Ahwatukee, so it’s surprising to hear that 10 years ago, it’s a job she never expected to have.
Not only did students at Summit School of Ahwatukee donate more than 17,000 diapers to Diaper Bank of Central Arizona, the most diapers per student of all schools that participated in Arizona, but they did it all in a two-week span.
