For a teeny little girl Violet sure does have a lot of love to give. There’s pretty much nothing she doesn’t love. Her list of favorite things are: snuggling, playing with other dogs or a playful kitty, toys, going on walks, car rides, and hanging out with us humans at the local cafe. Violet is looking for a home with another young, playful dog, preferable close to her size. A home with daily walks and copious amounts of snuggle time are on Violet’s wish list, too. If you’re looking for a companion to join you on your travels up north to avoid the heat or trips to San Diego to enjoy the cooler weather, Violet is the dog for you. She is such a well behaved, easy going, loving gal.
Darius is your typical Rottie. He has a wiggle butt, leans on just about any body part he can find, he loves to swim, is a very laid back, easygoing pal. Darius also knows some commands, listens very well, rides great in the car, likes to play with toys and likes to snuggle at night. Darius is a perfect gentleman in the house. He is house trained, never chews on anything inappropriate and despite his size he is great with people.
Rowan, 1, is not your typical tri-color Beagle, but more of a chocolaty kind. She has a slight heart murmur but that does not stop her from playing or snuggling or just looking cute and living a long life with regular vet visits. She likes other dogs and people.
Buddy D’Elf is an 11-year-old Beagle, who acts and plays like he’s 7. He came down from a land northeast of Phoenix to look for his new forever home. He can go from being a very active Beagle to being a couch potato who likes to snuggle. He loves to go for walks, but has to take his time so he can check out the great smells out in the world. He likes to ride like a person in the backseat of the car and occasionally likes to get up and take a look out the window. He gets along great with other dogs, too.
Frederick’s deep red fur is stunning. He has an adorable under bite and a very loving, easy going personality to boot. Snuggling is one of Frederick’s most favorite activity by far. And how could you resist that cute face? Frederick rides well in the car, has wonderful leash manners and has a stellar personality. Frederick is the complete package, except for one thing. This loving little man is missing a family to call his own. He has so much love to give and can’t wait to share it with his new family. He is sure to bring a smile to your face and your heart with all his cuteness and loving ways. Frederick is looking for an affectionate family. He is a world champion snuggler and is happy to show off his talents any chance he can get. Daily walks and a canine friend to share his time with would be great.
Pippa loves to play with her foster brother, play ball, go on walks and loves to snuggle. One of her favorite activities is playing with toys.
Darius the Rottweiler has a wiggle butt, leans on just about any body part he can find, loves to swim, is a very laid back, easygoing pal. He also knows some commands, listens very well, rides great in the car, likes to play with toys and while Darius likes to snuggle at night he is not overly affectionate. He was abandoned by his previous owners and while that might generally be a bad thing, we think it was a good thing. You see, Darius was not in the best shape when we saved him from the kill list. He had a skin infection along his back, was very skinny, and lacked muscle tone. Additionally, his previous owners never took care of torn ACLs on his back legs and he had hip issues. Darius gets around very well — running around the yard and the house with much vigor, wrestling with his canine foster sister who is much younger and very relentless in her play. He has already gained muscle tone and strength in his legs and they don’t slow him down.
After being stuck in a storm drain for a week, Ellie was sick and scared, but with love and good care she’s gotten her “sparkle” back. Ellie is very curious and just has to see what’s hiding in an open drawer, cabinet or a box because if it’s hidden, it must be something special. Although not a big talker, she does chatter at the birds and will let you know its snack time or if I need your help with a toy that got stuck. Affectionate but not needy, Ellie is happy to just be in the room with you, although I she loves to snuggle at bedtime.
Ziggy is one of the most polite and happy boys you will ever meet. Unfortunately, he has not had the best start to life, it appears that this precious little boy has been injured (probably hit by a car) and was never given the proper care. Ziggy has only one eye that he can see out of and his little legs are out of whack, but fortunately he is in no pain. Just kinda walks funny. But you would never know it by the way Ziggy moves and shakes. He runs with the rest of the pack in his foster home and has no problem making his way around the house and backyard. His true joy in life is snuggling with his human or other canines in his foster family. He is always wagging his little stub of a tail and has a smile that is contagious and never leaves his face. Ziggy has been the prefect house guest in his foster home and has quickly become a favorite to all that meet him. He is so calm and easy going that he will fit into any home that promises to give him the love and affection that he so deserves. His perfect home would be one with someone around most of the time and another canine friend or two. Your days will be filled with joy and smiles with Ziggy by your side.
Mini and Smokey are a bonded pair of 12-year-old pure bred Pomeranians who were surrendered by their owners who could no longer care for them. Mini is a very outgoing girl who likes to play with toys and do twirls and jump into your arms. Smokey is more reserved and timid and depends on Mini for everything. He follows her wherever she goes, lays where she lays and really needs her. Smokey has alopecia, a skin condition that is common for Poms which causes them to lose their hair, but otherwise he is healthy. Both babies are snuggle bunnies and love to be held. Both are kennel and leash trained. Even though they are approximately 12 they do not act their age. They MUST go to the same home.
Pippa can be a bit shy when she meets new people but with a little bit of time, this little gal opens up to show her peppy, loving and cuddly personality. She has flourished into a sweet, bubbly dog. She loves to play ball with her foster brother and go on walks. One of her favorite activities is playing with toys. Pippa loves to pull all the toys out of the toy box and hide various ones around the house. She’s looking for a home with another young, active, dog that she can play with. Another canine friend also gives Pippa confidence and makes for a great snuggle buddy. Pippa has become quite the ball chaser in foster care as well. She’s looking forward to continuing to hone her ball skills in her new home. Pippa is looking for a patient home that will understand that she is initially shy with new folks, but that with patience she comes around. Daily walks, plenty of snuggle time and lots of toys are all on this little girl’s wish list.
Rory is 21 pounds of pure goodness, happiness and love. Resisting his charms is pointless. One look into those precious light-colored eyes and you will be hooked. Rory is one handsome boy with such a wonderful and joyful personality. He loves everyone he meets — dog and human alike. He always appears to have a smile on his face and a wagging tail.
Meet Parker, a very cute but shy little boy with adorable ears and those big eyes that just beg for you to pick him up and hold him close. It seems that Parker has not been on many car rides and will need a family to take him on short trips to help him with his fear. He is very scared and will try to hide under the car seats. This little snuggle bug wants nothing more than a nice lap to lay in and his own person to cuddle with. He likes his walks but is still a little leery of things around him. Once he gets to know you and feels secure he will be your best friend. He is a pretty mellow guy so the perfect home would be one that is calm with not a lot of activity. Another canine in the house would be a plus. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like anyone has taken the time to show Parker how much fun playing with toys can be, but with some help it won’t take long.
Amadeus is one of those dogs that if his striking color, scruffy hairdo, or very cute under bite doesn’t capture your heart his wonderful demeanor will. He has a gentle soul that is full of life and he is happy to spend the time with you no matter what it entails. Walks are a favorite thing to do, but he also can be very happy sitting in your lap soaking up love and attention. He is a great riding companion, sitting in the seat beside you just watching the world go by. Amadeus enjoys playing fetch and has become quite good at it. He has been a perfect house guest in foster care. He’s house trained, doesn’t bark, is a pretty low maintenance guy that enjoys hanging out with his human friends. He is looking for a home with daily walks, games of fetch, snuggle time, and of course a life of love. He promises to be your best friend and love you for all the days of his life in return.
Tugboat is a 5-year-old, medium-sized male Beagle who was rescued from the shelter. He is a very friendly guy who really wants a family to hang out with ... maybe with some older kids who can keep up with him and take him for long walks. Tugboat gets excited when it’s time to go on a walk, but also loves just hanging out and being around people. He is housebroken and would love to snuggle with you on the couch.
Abby is a sweet, mellow, and affectionate kitty with soft gray fur and a white stripe that runs straight down the bridge of her nose. Abby enjoys attention from her people and will gently head butt you in the hopes of getting some petting — head and ear rubs, chin scratches, and chest massages are some of her favorite forms of petting. Whether its being held or taking up residence in an available lap, Abby loves to snuggle and she will loudly purr in contentment the entire time. Other fun facts about Abby: she likes to play, she is very vocal, she is a social eater, and she seems fine in the company of other friendly kitties. Abby is a recent rescue so check back for updates as we get to know more about Abby’s purrsonality.
Triscuit is a big personality in a little body. He gets along great with our resident dog playing and following each other during play time. During rest time, it is not unusual to find Triscuit and the resident dog sleeping with their heads on each other. Triscuit is also cat friendly.
Bowie’s foster mom raves about how wonderful he is. He is passive with other dogs, although he does love attention so he nudges his way in to get his fair share, but he’s not rude about it. He sleeps through the night and rides very well in the car. Bowie is cuddly so anyone interested in this sweet guy must love a lap dog. He will sleep in bed with you if you let him. He loves to follow his humans around, always curious as to what they are doing, but never getting in the way. He also has what’s called a “submissive grin.” He lifts his top lips, pulls them back and a beautiful white, pearly smile appears, along with happy squinty eyes and a bright pink tongue. Bowie is looking for a home with daily walks and plenty of daily snuggle time. A canine friend or two would be fine but Bowie could live as an only child as well.
Tucker Brown is a neutered 4-year-old Beagle mix who weighs about 50 pounds. He has the sweetest personality and gets along great with other dogs. He loves people, but has not been around kids or cats yet, so he would need an introduction. Tucker Brown loves to snuggle on the couch and is relatively low maintenance. He follows basic commands and his favorite toy is a Nylabone. He is house/doggie-door trained and sleeps through the night with no issues. Essentially, he is a mellow guy who is happy all the time and would love to have a family to call his own.
Rosie is a beautiful 2-year-old, orange female tabby, who is looking for her forever home. She is a sweet and gentle cat who can be timid in new environments and situations. She enjoys being groomed and petted and likes to snuggle up to people. In the past, she has lived in a home with two large dogs, seems to get along with other cats, and would do best in a home with older children.
For puppies and kittens, size really does matter.
Tonto is a German Shepherd/Collie mix, about a year old. He’s a fun guy who is looking for a fun, active home. Tonto loves to play and is young with a lot of puppy energy. He is a great balance of fun and snuggling during his down time. He already knows how to sit and is very motivated to learn more, he just needs a teacher. Tonto is good with other dogs and may get along with cats.
The news is packed with headlines aghast at the recent report that Americans waste 40 percent of their food. Many are springing into action to connect food banks and shelters with restaurants, or find creative ways to compost or biofuel the leftovers. I’ve also seen reminders to “eat what you purchased.” Consumers are feeling guilty and to blame.
Xena is one gorgeous, active gal. She loves to get out and explore our big world. Running and going on hikes are just two of her favorite activities. She might also enjoy some camping and swimming, too. Games of ball, fetch and tug toy are some of her other favorite activities. Once Xena has had her daily exercise needs met she is happy to settle in for some snuggle time with her favorite humans.
Tillie just celebrated her sixth birthday and is feeling great after having a growth on her belly removed that was making her uncomfortable. Now she’s free to run and play. This Beagle is very playful. She also likes to snuggle and cuddle with her humans. If you have other dogs, there will need to be a meet and greet, because Tillie can be a little dominant. She’s not aggressive with the dogs, and when they let her know they don’t want attention, she backs down right away. Tillie is crate trained and loves playing with kids, young or old.
