Arch Ratliff knows in the big picture the win doesn’t matter all that much if he isn’t able to do it again next week.
TUCSON - Ah, the Caballero.
The holiday boys basketball tournaments have wrapped up, and it’s time for the second half of the power points schedule. Before we move ahead, here is a look at the notable teams, players and moments from the first two months of the season:
It wasn’t hard to choose last year’s Tribune Player of the Year, as Saguaro running back D.J. Foster broke several state records, ran for 508 yards and 10 touchdowns in one game and led the Sabercats to the Division III state title.
Mountain Pointe junior wide receiver Jalen Brown is among the 10 finalists for the SEV Player of the Year.
The Thunder youth football team is one game away from making the national championships again. The Thunder moved up to the All-American Division after winning the junior midget national title in Orlando last season. They play in the SEV championship game at Campo Verde High against the Raiders, based in the West Valley. The winner advances to Orlando for the national championships, which will take place the first week of December.
Three youth football teams played in recent state title games with at least two heading to Florida for national championships.
