Jameson is a very handsome male Shepherd mix, about a year old. He was found as a stray. Jameson was never claimed so now he’s available for adoption. He is a big boy with lots of energy. He’s still very “puppy-ish” so whomever shares their home with Jameson should know sitting all day watching TV just won’t satisfy him. He is a wonderful guy that loves people, however, he should be an only dog. During the time he’s been at the shelter he’s been “barky” when he sees or meets other dogs, and he does not want to share food or toys with his canine friends. He is living at the Friends for Life adoption center in downtown Gilbert, 143 W. Vaughn Ave. He is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered.
Wanda is a 4-year-old beautiful Lemon Beagle that was a shelter dog rescued by Arizona Beagle Rescue. She was a bit chubby but has lost a few pounds and is now pretty close to her target weight. Wanda is housebroken, gets along with other dogs, rides great in a car, walks great on a leash and can use the doggie door. She loves to follow her foster mom around the house and snooze wherever she happens to be. If she likes you, she will give you her paw and loves to give kisses. Wanda is timid around men so it will take her some time to warm up and be comfortable. She would be a faithful companion for any family.
Tang has a mellow personality and will get along with other laid-back cats. He never gets in trouble. His life is not complete without a squeaky mouse toy, perching on high places, and rolling in fresh litter.
Whizbeedit is a domestic short-haired brown Tabby female kitten. She has lots of energy, but also likes to be held and be pet by her people. Whizbeedit expresses her appreciation with lots of purring. Whizbeedit and her litter mate are fostered in the home of a Friends for Life Animal Rescue volunteer, where much love and attention is doled out. Whizbeedit is just waiting to be a part of your home. She is shown for adoption at the PetSmart at Baselien Road and Stapley Drive, right of the U.S. 60 on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats are Felv/FIV tested negative, altered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.
Today JB the Bernese Mountain Dog is an award winner and a professional model, but at 8 months old he was a bullied puppy whose owners couldn’t keep him around.
Rescued when they were just a week old, these two adorable 9-week-old kittens are active, playful, and affectionate. A brother and sister team, Grayson (gray tabby) and Bebe (black) enjoy chasing each other.
Ashley is a sweet and quite snowbird kitty. She is fine with being an only cat, or sharing your affections with another laid-back cat. She is very smart and, with a little encouragement, will go in and out of her carrier with ease, thus she might be a good travel cat. She enjoys brushing, cat scratching posts, and running a sprint through the house.
Caramel is a sweet 11-year-old Beagle girl whose owner moved away and left her behind. She is so easygoing and very obedient. She likes to just hang out, take naps and sniff around the yard. Caramel gets along well with other dogs and children. Since she is a bit overweight she would benefit from more exercise and less food. Dieting is hard and Caramel is hungry so if there is more than one dog in the home it would be best to feed her separately.
In honor of Adopt A Senior Pet Month, Weasly is a sweet, laid-back, 7-year-old Chihuahua looking for a nice comfy bed or warm lap to spend his days in. He likes affection and attention from his people friends and loves to give everybody kisses. He coexist with other dogs, so please bring in any dogs already at home to ensure a good match. He leaves cats alone and should do well with older children (elementary-aged and up).
This lovely girl (also known as “Angel”) is a yellow Lab mix, about 6 months old. Currently, she weighs in at 25 pounds full of love, but she’ll continue to grow into a large-sized dog.
Crazy about your dog? Want to spend quality time with him or her while enjoying company from dog owners like you? Look no further than the sixth annual Woofstock - The Great Chandler Dog Walk. This tail-waggin’ event at Tumbleweed Park features numerous events including interactive dog demonstrations, dog massages and a pet psychic.
Ahwatukee resident Alex Thomas recently won an award at the 2013 Rocky Mountain Emmys for his short film, “The Mutable Life of Oscar Clark.”
Paisley is a sweet 2-year-old female Beagle. She loves to be around people, but other dogs just terrify her. She was attacked by another dog so it will take patience, love and some professional training for her to feel comfortable around other dogs. Until then, Paisley will do great being an only dog in the household. She is housebroken and rarely barks. She does need to be kept on a leash because, like most Beagles, she will take off to follow a scent. Her coat is very soft and she lets everyone hold and pet her.

Mitch is a senior, male, beautiful gray Tabby. He is sweet and friendly, competing with all the younger cats at the shelter. This wise one knows not to miss an opportunity for attention. Mitch comes right out to receive pets and scratches when someone enters the kitty room. He’ll rub up against you and beg for treats, too. He’s doing everything he can to catch the attention of someone, but being a senior it is often difficult to compete with the “kids.”
Sweet Calico-Siamese mix Ellie seeks a home where she can enjoy her favorite past times: bird watching safely from windows, reading, knitting, and enjoying being petted while adoringly gazing at you. This lovely short-haired, green-eyed girl will thrive in a home without dogs or very young children. She’s best solo or with other laid back cats.
Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA’s Walk to Save Animals is a family friendly annual event with a 2K and 5K walk, games, raffles, prizes, food, entertainment, adoptions and you get to bring your dog from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Tempe Town Lake.
When it was time for Ahwatukee Foothills resident Michelle Milich to get a new dog she figured an American Bulldog, known for no major health problems and low grooming, would be a good choice. She had a family member looking to get rid of an American Bulldog and the timing seemed like fate, but looking back Milich had no idea what fate had in store.
This event is for all breeds to benefit Boxer Luv Rescue. Bring your canine friend and volunteers will wash and dry your pup for a $20 donation. Long hair $5 extra. Wash and dry, nails clipped and ears cleaned for a $30 donation at Malinda’s Pampered Pets in Ahwatukee, 4302 E. Ray Road, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3.
