While learning to play an instrument fosters the arts, it also teaches children valuable lessons about hard work and the importance of practice. But children everywhere are losing access to basic music classes in school.
In January, an official for the Arizona Diamondbacks heard the Valley Christian High School Chorale group singing the National Anthem on KOOL FM as part of the Fulton Homes Noon Salute program. Valley Christian’s talented singers won the hearts and ears of the Diamondbacks so much that the group was invited to sing the patriotic song before a game.
Movie buffs and fans of “The Lord of the Rings” films will have
an opportunity to watch the first movie like never before. The
Munich Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Chorale and the Phoenix Boys
Choir are bringing to life the music from the film, “The Lord of
the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings” in concert live Oct. 12 at
The West Valley Chorale, under the direction of Ken
Goodenberger, brings Johannes Brahms’ “German Requiem” to the
community. The piece will be presented in English. Accompanied by
orchestra, the 75-member chorale will be joined by dramatic
baritone Richard Paul Fink and lyric soprano Carolyn E. Folks.
The Phoenix Symphony continues it's 2010/11 APS Pops Series with
the spirited music of "Home for the Holidays" December 3 to 5 at
Symphony Hall, 75 N. 2nd Street. Valley favorite Bob Moody will
lead The Phoenix Symphony and ASU Choral Union to kick off the
Holiday season. "Home for the Holidays" will be held at Symphony
Hall on Fri., December 3 at 8 p.m., Sat., December 4 at 8 p.m. and
Sun., December 5 at 2 p.m.
