PGA Professionals in the Southwest Section of the PGA of America will host a PGA H.O.P.E. (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) training session, introducing golf to veterans with physical and mental disabilities.
The Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) is set to host the annual Willie Low Invitational, honoring the late Willie Low, one of the Valley’s top golf professionals for nearly half a century. Started in 1969, the event has showcased the talents of junior golfers from across the state. Past winners have included two-time PGA TOUR champion Billy Mayfair and Ted Purdy.
The JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort & Spa, home of Camelback Golf Club and the new, award-winning Ambiente golf course, became the first golf facility to host the one-of-a-kind TaylorMade Tuned Performance Studio.
Raven Golf Club–Phoenix announced the addition of PGA teaching professional, Eddie Kilthau, to the club’s golf instruction team. Kilthau played college golf at Scottsdale Community College and Arizona State University. After that, he built a career in the golf industry as a player and teacher for more than 37 years. Along the way, Kilthau managed to card six holes-in-one, two of which were made in the PGA Tour qualifying events.
Ranked No. 2 on Golfweek’s list of the best junior events, the Thunderbird International Junior is viewed as the “Masters” of the junior golf world with an impressive list of past tournament champions including current PGA Tour players Ryan Moore and Casey Whittenberg as well as LPGA players Morgan Pressel and Belen Mozo.
Local golf instructor Jeff Ritter is offering a trip to Augusta. The winner receives airfare and lodging for the week of the The Masters in April. There will be half-day golf school with Ritter at Augusta Country Club. There will also be a sponsor gift from Swing Tip that will be reveled upon the winner’s selection.
Golfers are able to book a round of golf and play on the Champions Course at the same time the Waste Management Phoenix Open is taking place on The Stadium Course. Then, golfers will receive a complimentary ticket for the tournament that same day. With tee times starting at $99 per person, golfers “play while the pro’s play.”
