Have you ever seen the movie “Funny Farm” with Chevy Chase? He has an Irish Setter named “Yellow Dog” and as soon as he brings him home, the dog runs away. Throughout the film, the dog reappears but will never come to anyone who calls him. Don’t let this happen to you. The come/recall command is a vital connection between you and your dog. It is important not only for safety, but for establishing the appropriate hierarchy in your pack structure.
In all the rush to conquer holiday shopping, don’t forget the pets on your list.
Bo is a great little guy, who was very loved and cared for, but reluctantly his owner had to give him up. Bo graduated from PetSmart Obedience Training a few years back, therefore, he is very mannerly and gets along with other dogs. He loves attention, treats, going for walks, and being brushed. He had dental work at some point and is missing a few lower teeth, but that does not hinder him from smiling at everyone he meets. Bo also has a nice, lush coat. He is 8 years old, weighs 10 pounds, is neutered, current on vaccinations and has a microchip.
Bobby is a very handsome 3-year-old Pomeranian who thinks he is still a puppy. He is playfully silly all the time, and when he’s worn out, he will lay faithfully at your side gazing up at you as if to say, “I’m ready for more fun!” Bobby is a clean slate and will excel with obedience training. He weighs 11 pounds and is a long and tall boy with a great coat and nice white teeth. Bobby would love an active home with a yard to play in. He is neutered, current on vaccinations and has a microchip.
Leah is a quiet and submissive girl who gets along with other dogs, but needs a home (preferably without small children) that will give her the love and attention that she has never had. She is unsure of new people and surroundings and will thrive with obedience training to build her confidence and focus. She is a very sweet girl who deserves a chance to shine. Leah is about 3 years old, weighs 7 pounds, is spayed, current on vaccinations and has a microchip. Her adoption fee is $275. An application process is required as well as a home visit.
I always knew that at some point in my children’s lives, we would have to say goodbye to our family dog.

Dogs bite for many reasons. Remember that they are animals and a bite is a form of communication. Dogs may bite out of fear or pain. A mother dog with very young pups might bite out of the maternal instinct to protect her babies. Dogs can also bite if they have been pestered too much - it's their way of saying no.

Dogs can be a wonderful part of our lives, but sometimes they bite. Approximately 5,800 dog bites were reported in Maricopa County last year. Children are most often the victims, with nearly half of all children in the United States bitten by their 12th birthdays.

Cherokee is a 1 1/2-year-old white, blue eyed, microchipped female Siberian Husky. She is house trained, leash trained and is working on basic obedience. Cherokee is still a puppy so she is full of energy. She would do best where she is given the opportunity to be active, with another dog (male preferably) and/or with older children.
