The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rates the relative quality of the private plans that are offered to Medicare beneficiaries through the Medicare Advantage program. CMS rates Medicare Advantage plans on a one to five-star scale, the highest quality being five stars. This star rating provides an overall measure of the plan’s quality and is an indication of the quality of care, access to care, responsiveness, and beneficiary satisfaction provided by the Medicare Advantage plan. This means that the higher the star rating a plan receives, the more likely you are to receive the care you need, when and where you need it - and most of all, you are more likely to be satisfied with your plan.
If you have Medicare coverage, you are probably familiar with a time of year known as the Annual Enrollment Period. This is a timeframe, typically from mid-October to early December, when people who are eligible for Medicare can enroll in, disenroll from or change their Medicare Advantage plan for the upcoming year.
With a new school year on the horizon, it’s time to think about what’s for lunch. Recipients were recognized in an awards ceremony during the ArMA President’s Banquet at the Phoenix Country Club on May 30, which featured Gov. Jan Brewer as an award recipient and the keynote speaker. Brewer’s keynote speech provided an overview of the work to restore and expand the Arizona Medicaid program, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS).
The city of Phoenix has recognized the first 33 FitPHX Business Award winners for completing training on strategies for helping their employees lead healthier lives. The businesses were the first participants in FitPHX’s partnership with the Healthy Arizona Worksites Program, a public health initiative of the Arizona Department of Health Services, the Maricopa County Department of Public Health and the Arizona Small Business Association.
It seems that more and more often, I encounter numerous clients, friends and associates who have been laid off or fired and many others who for one reason or another are out of work and looking for a job. If you are in this group of individuals and looking for employment, it can be a tremendously stressful time as you try and figure out what you are going to do to survive and pay your bills. It becomes even more worrisome to balance survival with the lengthy processes companies implement in their hiring practices.
