I recently celebrated my 30-year high school reunion. Friends proudly talked about their children, grandchildren and careers. There were some classmates who were no longer with us and some just couldn’t make it. One person not present was Greg Hyde. I recently received an email from his sister:

I have always believed that to volunteer for your community is one commitment every American should do at some point in their life. On Aug. 9 the Republican candidates for Arizona’s newest Congressional seat, Congressional District 9, will face off with each other in Ahwatukee hoping to win votes to secure the party’s nomination. The victor will then face the winner of the Democratic primary in November for what will be one congressional seat both parties will be eyeing to add to their column.

The Dance Depot Company was awarded two Top Overall Studio Awards at their first competition of the season. The KAR (Kids Artistic Review) competition held on Nov. 20 and 21 awarded the Dance Depot Company their highest level adjudicated awards. In addition, the routines ranked in the Top 5 overall awards in nearly every category they competed in.

The Desert Vista Spiritline is ready to yell and shout, and teach some of its routines to Ahwatukee Foothills girls.
The Desert Vista Spiritline will host a football cheer clinic from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in the school's gym (16440 S. 32nd St.) for girls ages pre K to eighth grade. Participants will also perform during halftime at the Varsity Football Game on Friday, Oct. 22.
