Gus is a 5-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who will seek out attention and loves getting pet. He would like to find a home with a nice lap to sit on all day. When people at the shelter see him they call his name and he gets so wiggly and happy and he jumps into their arms and gives them kisses.
Jameson is a very handsome male Shepherd mix, about a year old. He was found as a stray. Jameson was never claimed so now he’s available for adoption. He is a big boy with lots of energy. He’s still very “puppy-ish” so whomever shares their home with Jameson should know sitting all day watching TV just won’t satisfy him. He is a wonderful guy that loves people, however, he should be an only dog. During the time he’s been at the shelter he’s been “barky” when he sees or meets other dogs, and he does not want to share food or toys with his canine friends. He is living at the Friends for Life adoption center in downtown Gilbert, 143 W. Vaughn Ave. He is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered.
Wanda is a 4-year-old beautiful Lemon Beagle that was a shelter dog rescued by Arizona Beagle Rescue. She was a bit chubby but has lost a few pounds and is now pretty close to her target weight. Wanda is housebroken, gets along with other dogs, rides great in a car, walks great on a leash and can use the doggie door. She loves to follow her foster mom around the house and snooze wherever she happens to be. If she likes you, she will give you her paw and loves to give kisses. Wanda is timid around men so it will take her some time to warm up and be comfortable. She would be a faithful companion for any family.
This 7-month-old kitten is sure to steal your heart. Crystal was named for her gorgeous crystal blue eyes. She is a Calico Point Siamese cat with a great personality. This sweet cat is very affectionate and loves human attention. She loves to play with toys and enjoys lap time with her human companions. She enjoys the company of dogs as well as other cats.
Tang has a mellow personality and will get along with other laid-back cats. He never gets in trouble. His life is not complete without a squeaky mouse toy, perching on high places, and rolling in fresh litter.
For a teeny little girl Violet sure does have a lot of love to give. There’s pretty much nothing she doesn’t love. Her list of favorite things are: snuggling, playing with other dogs or a playful kitty, toys, going on walks, car rides, and hanging out with us humans at the local cafe. Violet is looking for a home with another young, playful dog, preferable close to her size. A home with daily walks and copious amounts of snuggle time are on Violet’s wish list, too. If you’re looking for a companion to join you on your travels up north to avoid the heat or trips to San Diego to enjoy the cooler weather, Violet is the dog for you. She is such a well behaved, easy going, loving gal.
Looking for a little buddy to hang out with, go on walks, go to the Farmer’s Market, or just sit around and read the Ahwatukee Foothills News? Well, Chris is your guy! He is about the best little dog a person could want. He gets along well with other dogs, doesn’t mind little kids hanging all over him, and would possibly be OK with a feline sibling or two. Chris is a 5-year-old male Jack Russell Terrier mix who came to the Arizona Animal Welfare League because his owner fell on hard times and was unable to keep him any longer, not because of any other reason other than he no longer had a house to live in and wanted a better life for Chris than living on the streets. Chris is an absolute staff favorite and currently resides in the dog adoption manager’s office because she cannot bear to put him in a kennel because he’s just that perfect.

Kimber is an active 3-year-old female Beagle mix who is housebroken and can use a doggie door. She gets along great with her foster brothers and loves to play and wrestle. She is crate trained and loves to cuddle and give kisses. Kimber would be good with older kids, probably best for kids 10 and older since she is little food aggressive. She does not bark much except at meal times to tell you she is hungry. She walks well on a leash and likes to explore.
Clearly, the gifts under the tree with the eye-catching wrapping paper and bows were the focus of Christmas morning.
Whizbeedit is a domestic short-haired brown Tabby female kitten. She has lots of energy, but also likes to be held and be pet by her people. Whizbeedit expresses her appreciation with lots of purring. Whizbeedit and her litter mate are fostered in the home of a Friends for Life Animal Rescue volunteer, where much love and attention is doled out. Whizbeedit is just waiting to be a part of your home. She is shown for adoption at the PetSmart at Baselien Road and Stapley Drive, right of the U.S. 60 on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats are Felv/FIV tested negative, altered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Rescued when they were just a week old, these two adorable 9-week-old kittens are active, playful, and affectionate. A brother and sister team, Grayson (gray tabby) and Bebe (black) enjoy chasing each other.
Ashley is a sweet and quite snowbird kitty. She is fine with being an only cat, or sharing your affections with another laid-back cat. She is very smart and, with a little encouragement, will go in and out of her carrier with ease, thus she might be a good travel cat. She enjoys brushing, cat scratching posts, and running a sprint through the house.
Sali loves laps and will sit in yours for hours. She loves to go for walks. She is a very young Terrier and will need a bit of guidance. Even though she hasn’t had the best start to her life she still manages to have a smile that goes from ear to ear, and it is contagious. There is no way you can’t help but smile when you have this little girl by your side. She is learning how much fun toys can be. Sali enjoys the company of other dogs her size and seems to find comfort and confidence when she is with them. So another young active dog her size is necessary in her new home. Her new family needs to be one that is patient and willing to take the time to work with her. Sali is looking for a very active family that is ready to show her what it is like to be a loved member of the family.

Fresno was abandoned in a house with at least a dozen other cats. She is a very petite Tabby with a minor disability. Her left knee does not bend, but she does not seem to notice. She still has the ability to walk, run, jump, and even climb up a cat tree to see the world. Fresno will follow you everywhere, rub her head and body against everything, and jump in your lap to give or receive a hug.
Sunny is an energetic, affectionate and boisterous boy. He has a strong, muscular and sturdy build.
Alex is a very sweet little boy that is happy to be alive. He is a typical Terrier with an independent side. So he doesn’t have to be constantly entertained. Alex enjoys long walks and investigating everything he comes across. Again, like most Terriers he is very food motivated and loves to learn new things so he’s an easy student. Alex can be very affectionate and loves to give sweet kisses. You can be certain that when your day is done and it is time to relax, Alex will be right there by your side. He is looking for a family who wants to share his joy of walks and checking out the big world around him, but also one that likes to relax and enjoy some cuddle time and even a good tummy rub. You will not be disappointed with this cutie pie in your life so take a minute and check him out. He just might be the cute little boy to complete you family.
Paisley is a sweet 2-year-old female Beagle. She loves to be around people, but other dogs just terrify her. She was attacked by another dog so it will take patience, love and some professional training for her to feel comfortable around other dogs. Until then, Paisley will do great being an only dog in the household. She is housebroken and rarely barks. She does need to be kept on a leash because, like most Beagles, she will take off to follow a scent. Her coat is very soft and she lets everyone hold and pet her.
