Bubbles, a 2-year-old Terrier, American Staffordshire/Bulldog, loves just about everything (except cats). It is hard to keep her from wiggling and wagging her tail for more than five minutes.
Veteran country star Alan Jackson ranks among the most tradition-based singers of his generation. Most of his influences are on the surface: honky-tonk, swing, blues and songs both romantic and social that draw on details from his personal life.

After spending a few years as a reporter and bartender, Kathleen Madigan dove into comedy and has found consistent work as a comedienne for 25 years. She’s made frequent appearances on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” and “The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” and earned multiple accolades and much praise for her routines.
May 24, 2013 marked my last day of work for the 2012-2013 school year. As soon as I received notification that my final paycheck was available, I literally “threw up the deuces,” hugged my colleagues, and “eased on down the road.” I was determined to have a carefree summer — one devoid of daily commentaries regarding instructional strategies and the effectiveness of Common Core.
The call came in the morning, an out-of-state in-law who has never made a personal call to our home. The conversation began as light chit-chat. My husband held his breath, sensing something more was coming. And, it did, in the form of a confession, a desperate act of saving one’s self.
Like everyone else, you want to leave a legacy. To make it happen, though, you need to do some estate planning. For most of us, that sounds like a scary task, but it doesn’t have to be — as long as you break it down into a few key moves.
You ever hear the saying, “This is about as much fun as watching snails race?” Well “Turbo,” the latest flick from DreamWorks Animation, is literally about a racing snail. It’s also about as fascinating as watching paint dry or watching grass grow. Sitting in the theater, you never feel like you’re observing an animated feature from the edgy, satirical, pop-culture savvy folks at DreamWorks. You feel like you’re watching a cartoon with a thin premise on Nickelodeon. In other words, save your time, save your money, and stream it for the kids when it’s on Netflix in several months.
The Chaparral baseball team isn’t quite ready to give up on its dream of a third consecutive state title.
Did you catch The Rev. Jesse Jackson the other night on CNN demanding a Senate hearing into why regulators never cracked down on that gruesome abortion clinic in Philadelphia?

“A Good Day to Die Hard” marks the fifth entry to the “Die Hard” franchise and the third film to come out in the last two months about an ass kicking senior citizen. The original “Die Hard” is a definitive action picture that can still make audiences cheer even after multiple viewings. Whether you love or hate “Die Hard 2” and “Die Hard with a Vengeance,” pretty much everyone can agree that John McClane made a welcome return in the sensational “Live Free or Die Hard” a few years ago. The previous “Die Hard” got just about everything right from the absurdly insane stunts, to the humorous dialog, to Bruce Willis’ committed performance. “A Good Day to Die Hard” has just enough fun moments for die-hard fans to take a gander. Regrettably, it remains the least impressive outing of this series.

Brian Johnson/AFN Memories from the 80s were brought back to life May 6 and 7 at Mountain Pointe High School when more than 100 choir members staged the pops concert, "I Love the 80s" in the school's auditorium. Songs from Cyndi Lauper, Bobby McFerrin, Pat Benatar, Madonna and Joan Jett were among the many songs performed. A concert highlight included USA for Africa's "We Are the World" written by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson in 1985. May 7, 2010
Ahwatukee Foothills resident Lisa Campbell is not your average Michael Jackson fan girl.
This is it people, the long awaited day that Stephanie Meyer’s asinine chronicle of lame vampires, talking CGI werewolves, and the single worst female protagonist in all of fiction comes to a close. While the fandom may live on for decades, at least we’ll never have to suffer through one of these movies again. Of course Meyer’s could always write another novel and cash in. But maybe I’m speaking too soon. Perhaps “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2” will be the rare sequel that finally delivers on all the hype, at the very least working as a light guilty pleasure along the lines of “True Blood.”
The men’s tennis team from the Ahwatukee Country Racquet Club captured the national title at the USTA League 4.5 Adult National Championships at the Reffkin Tennis Center in Tucson, Ariz., recently.
The putting-on-my-crew album has long been a rite of passage — and stumbling block — for rap stars. Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music compilation “Cruel Summer” fails in the same way most do: It’s a disjointed assemblage of rhyme styles and perspectives with no overarching musical direction. In short, a mixtape.
