It’s not often that girls less than 8 years old take the initiative to look beyond themselves to help others, but that’s exactly what Daisy Girl Scout Troop 592 of Ahwatukee did. They were recently discussing how to use more than $600 in proceeds they earned selling Girl Scout cookies. They wanted to do a fun outing as a troop and also do something to help other kids. They decided to give a batch of small toys to Phoenix Children’s Hospital to cheer up young patients who might need a boost for their spirits. They bought more then $300 worth of toys and delivered them in person.
Third-grade Brownie Troop 864 and first-grade Daisy Troop 867 from Kyrene de la Colina Elementary School visited the new Mountain Park Senior Living Center recently to spread a little Christmas cheer. The girls sung carols as the residents with happy smiles joined in. A wonderful night of holiday celebration among generations in Ahwatukee Foothills.
The Girl Scouts of Ahwatukee Foothills recently hosted a Recruitment Rally at the Pecos Park Community Room. Girls from kindergarten through 12th grade were invited to the event to speak with school organizers, leaders and girls in troops. Many of the troops that were on hand shared hands-on activities showcasing what they like best about Girl Scouts. Leaders also shared what they like most about volunteering and how fun and rewarding it is to work with girls.
