This photo provided by Sherri Griffin shows dryer balls that reduce drying time, static cling and wrinkles. Griffin, of Orlando, Fla., calls her homemade laundry detergent, fabric softener and dryer balls “a dream team.” “I often hear that people can't give up the fresh smell that they get from using dryer sheets, but what people don't understand is that smell comes from … chemicals,” says Griffin. For years Cathi Herrod and her Center for Arizona Policy have flexed their political muscles and pushed through legislation that represented what she calls “fundamental principles,” often those espoused in the Bible.
I’m often surprised at the frequency in which I hear a Christian bring up Karma. As applied, Karma is the great balancer in the universe to right all wrongs and keep each successive day moving along as it should. It might be a warning to a person that a momentary bad deed will come back to haunt them, or an encouragement to a person wronged that retribution is on its way. Spend a few moments sitting at your local coffee shop and you’ll overhear hints of this in the conversations all around you. Whether we profess faith in Jesus or not, most of us live with a deep need for fairness in our daily lives. It’s what makes our world tick.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the No. 1 cause of morbidity and mortality in the U.S. CVD is one of the most misdiagnosed and mistreated conditions in medicine. The top risk factors for CVD include hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes and obesity, a.k.a. diobesity, and smoking, which are poorly treated and often with toxic pharmaceutical drugs. Many physicians fail to measure or are completely unaware of the other risk factors and, therefore, do not treat them.
It's the dirty work of home life: dusting the shelves, mopping the floors and doing the laundry, load after load. Yet asking kids to help has gotten harder for some parents, caught up in the blur of today's competitive, time-pressed, child-focused world.
Homeowners associations are supposed to protect your property value, and maintain the common areas of a community. But many of you have let me know, that some HOAs are out of control — and you feel like you just can’t win.
I have Olympic fever, I love the Winter Olympics and so far in the first week, I haven’t been disappointed. Since my dream of participating in the Olympics was nothing more than a pipe dream, I’ve decided to create my own. I’ve watched many Olympians that thank their mom (and dads) for all the support over the years to help them win a medal. Why should the kids have all the fun, why not have our own Olympics or “Mom Olympics.” We don’t need to worry about a winter or summer season since being a Mom Olympian is a year-round pursuit.

I recently found a book at an estate sale for $1, called “Billy Sunday: The Man and His Message,” by William T. Ellis, published in 1914. I didn’t know much about Billy Sunday other than that he was an evangelist in America a long time ago. What a treasure this book has been.
