Kyrene School District hosted its annual Parent Superintendent Council (PSC) at the district office Tuesday morning in efforts for Parent Teacher Organizations (PTOs) and local businesses to discuss fundraising ideas for the school year.
That is the “64 dollar” question and to help arrive at the answer here are some facts: Gee’s corporation (Bixby Village Golf Course, Inc.) paid $4 million in June of 2006 for The Lakes at Ahwatukee. The course contains approximately 100 acres. So the cost per acre was $40,000.
In Arizona, our state is divided into 30 legislative districts. Here in Ahwatukee, we belong to Legislative District 18 (LD18), along with some of Chandler and Tempe. Each district has one senator and two house representatives that represent us in the state Legislature. I think many people have already heard about Janie Hydrick, who is the best candidate for our single senate seat. But there is also a great candidate for the state House: Mitzi Epstein.

The Arizona Department of Education released its 2013-14 letter grades for schools across the state on Monday, and the Kyrene and Tempe Union High school districts and Horizon Community Learning Center all received an overall “A” grade.
