About a dozen youths from the East Valley were winners in the 2011 Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program through their local stores. The store recognized nearly 2,200 young volunteers nationwide. Fifty-two youths from Arizona will each receive a $50 gift card and a recognition certificate.

The Kohl's Department Stores' Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program will award more than $415,000 in scholarships and prizes, ranging from $50 Kohl's gift cards to $10,000 scholarships, honoring young volunteers who have made a positive impact on their communities.

NEW YORK — Holiday shoppers gave retailers a happy Thanksgiving weekend, crowding stores and malls more than last year.

With Black Friday behind them, and some deals gone within minutes of stores opening, shoppers are looking toward “Cyber Monday.”

Whether it's the middle of the night after Thanksgiving or the middle of the day at the office, shoppers will find deals awaiting them online and in stores as retailers do everything they can to make the most of another tepid holiday spending season.
