A series of close calls and years of speeding have finally been enough for one Ahwatukee Foothills neighborhood. A group of neighbors living along the eastern portion of Kachina Drive are working together to get speed humps placed on their street.

For Kachina, of all the streets in Ahwatukee, to have fast and reckless driving is just sad. I should add littering, for at the southern end of Kachina Drive one can often see cans and bottles as well as fast-food packaging tossed out to the side of the road.

A car crashing into an Ahwatukee Foothills backyard is the last straw for a neighborhood girl.

Man’s best friends are taking over University of Phoenix Stadium this weekend for the Great Arizona Dog Show. Mike Doty, cluster chairman for the dog show, said the event really has something for everyone.

Besides wanting to live in a family-friendly community, part of the reason Aleta Basio moved to Surprise was to be near Surprise Stadium and experience spring training. After attending a fan fest at the stadium several years ago, Basio knew she had to become part of the action that includes the smell of hot dogs, organ music played between innings and the laid-back atmosphere spring baseball provides fans.
