I have never been tempted to write a letter like this before. However, in 17 years of mountain biking and the seven different shops I’ve frequented over the years, I have never encountered customer service like at Javelina Cycles. Four javelinas came through the Crimson Ridge Park at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning. Three adults and one baby. The baby was only about 5 inches tall. They crossed 48th Street by the San Melia Apartments, bringing traffic on 48th Street to a halt, while they crossed the street. The little baby could barely climb up the curb of the sidewalk. Mama javelina patiently waited for her sibling to get up on the sidewalk then they went down into the park, taking their time and headed for the water canal. Several cars pulled off 48th Street to follow them and snapping pictures along the way. Resident Dennis Whitlock caught up with them as they traveled through the water canal that runs between E. Thistle Landing Drive and E. Chuckwalla Canyon.
