Catholic Charities Community Services’ DIGNITY House was recently named Homeless Service Provider of the Year by Phoenix Neighborhood Services. DIGNITY House received the award for its outstanding efforts assisting women with intensive residential recovery to help them live an independent life. The award was presented last month during the city’s National Community Development Week celebration.
Friends of Animal Care & Control (Friends) of Maricopa County has been awarded the Pets for Life Mentorship and Training Program Grant sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States and PetSmart Charities. Friends won one of five full grants awarded out of over 50 that applied nationwide to provide education and training for pet owners in an effort to reduce pet homelessness in Maricopa County.

At its annual Christmas luncheon, which took place on Dec. 4, the Tuesday Swingers Golf League of the Lakes Golf Club in Ahwatukee hosted a raffle and free will offering that raised $400, which was donated to the Sunshine Acres Children’s Home in Mesa. The raffle prizes were donated by the leagues members and this annual event took place a Buca di Beppo restaurant.

Fido tries again to escape but is met with a hard bite to the back leg. Third-grade Brownie Troop 864 and first-grade Daisy Troop 867 from Kyrene de la Colina Elementary School visited the new Mountain Park Senior Living Center recently to spread a little Christmas cheer.
