  1. article Every day has its moment

    Friday, February 22, 2013 7:49 am

The best moment of my life, so far, happened more than 15 years ago at a hospital in Mesa. Like many “best” moments in our lives, it came after some of the worst.

  2. article Pity the clueless man on Valentine’s Day

    Tuesday, February 12, 2013 7:49 am

Gift giving in February is fraught with danger for any guy. Don’t give chocolate if she’s on a diet, but if you don’t give chocolate you might be implying that you think she’s fat. Jewelry has to be precisely the right style for your beloved, without her telling you what she wants. The card can’t be funny; it has to be romantic, but it can’t be schmaltzy.

  4. article Carell, Knightley share touching on-screen relationship

    Wednesday, June 27, 2012 4:04 pm

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World” is probably the funniest, quietest, and most romantic movie about the end of the world you’re ever going to see. There aren’t any big action set pieces driven by special effects. The focus of the film isn’t on the politicians or astronauts trying to save the planet. Instead, it focuses in on two people coming together and accepting the inevitable during their last remaining days on earth. It’s a warm, charming apocalyptic romantic comedy with much more humanity than something like “2012” or “Armageddon.”

    Monday, March 26, 2012 6:00 am

Translating what many consider to be the “great American novel” to the stage is no simple task — just ask Stephen Wrentmore. He is the director of “The Great Gatsby,” which is presented by the Arizona Theatre Company and will be playing at the Herberger Theater Center in Phoenix through April 8.

Translating what many consider to be the “great American novel” to the stage is no simple task — just ask Stephen Wrentmore. He is the director of “The Great Gatsby,” which is presented by the Arizona Theatre Company and will be playing at the Herberger Theater Center in Phoenix beginning Thursday. Although the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel is set in 1922, Wrentmore believes that the themes of the story are timelier than ever.

  12. article Ahwatukee photographer offers unique gift options for Valentine's Day

    Thursday, February 9, 2012 7:00 am

Despite one's best intentions, Valentine's Day gifts for the ones you love can often become a bit mundane. Does he really want a teddy bear that sings "Wild Thing" by The Troggs? Does she really need that Limited Collector's Edition of "The Notebook" DVD? This year, residents can try something different with a visit to Everardo Keeme of Everardo Keeme Photography in Ahwatukee Foothills, who offers both portraits and greeting cards for those special people in your life.

  15. article ‘Breaking Dawn - Part 1’ may be worst of series

    Wednesday, November 30, 2011 3:00 pm

I think I finally get it. I finally understand why Edward Cullen loves Bella Swan. It's because she's the only being on the face of the earth that's even more bland and gloomy than he is. Even on her wedding day, the happiest day of her life, Bella can barely crack a grin as her father walks her down the isle. She looks almost as constipated with grief as I was while watching "Jack and Jill." In that sense, I suppose that Bella and Edward are a match made in heaven.

  19. article How could anyone not fall in love with that face?

    Wednesday, August 17, 2011 10:00 am

Dirk is a big, lovable, goofy dog who doesn't yet know how big or strong he is but he wants to learn from you. He rides well in the car, gets along with other dogs and loves people. Dirk has some wonderful traits: A a bright expressive smile, he plays well with others, is a happy/mellow fellow, rides well in the car and he is not reactive to barking from other pups. Dirk loves to play with his toys. He would be happiest in a home with a large yard for him to run around, and with people who will be patient but firm in teaching him their expectations and giving him direction.
