Our practice is filled with sadness to hear of the passing of Eddie Basha. Eddie has been a friend of ours for almost 40 years. He was an integral part of the decision to locate our practice in Chandler and he will be missed greatly. As a Chandler Hospital board member, Eddie spearheaded fundraising efforts community-wide to bring up-to-date equipment to the hospital and our OB/GYN patients in 1976. As we all know, his philanthropy continued throughout his life.

A 2008-2010 birth control study to more than 9,000 poor and uninsured St. Louis women proved that when proper information is given, more effective family planning methods are chosen. After receiving free counseling, teens between the ages of 15 to 19 had only 6.3 out-of-wedlock births compared to national rates of 34.3. And for every 1,000 women, the St. Louis general population lowered abortion rates to 13.4, compared to 20, the national rate.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that healthy young women begin seeing and establish a relationship with a gynecologist during adolescence, typically around age 15.
