Karma is a domestic short-haired buff and white large male kitty. He is approximately 6 years old. Karma’s personality is one of the strong, silent types. He very much enjoys sitting on a human’s lap or sitting next to someone for some love. Getting lovin’ is his favorite thing to do. He bows his head for rubs then “collapses” upside down for some belly rubs. Karma has tested negative for FELV/FIV. He is altered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and litter-box trained. He currently calls Friends for Life’s adoption center in downtown Gilbert home.

This Monday, July 2, 2012 photo shows Los Angeles Police Officer Jim Cherrette holding a temperature record stick in Los Angeles to demonstrate how hot a closed car can get. Good Samaritans, temperature guns and tougher laws are the newest tools in the campaign to keep animals out of hot cars, where just minutes can mean death. More calls are coming in about overheated dogs _ and officials say that's a good thing, because more people are aware of the problem and calling before it's too late. (AP Photo/Nick Ut)

The company that makes your favorite product is about to offer stock shares to the public for the first time. This privately held company is now ready to go public with an Initial Public Offering (IPO). IPOs are an important cog in the economy. They nurture sound business ideas, generate employment, help market competition, and can generate wealth for investors. But not every IPO realizes this goal. You’re really excited, but should you invest?

Thank you, to the Good Samaritans: The couple who stopped traffic in the middle of Chandler Boulevard at 40th Street; Dr. Russ Roberge, DDS, who got out of his car to help with the two other gentlemen who came out of the Taco Bell to push Alyssa's car! It stalled in the middle of the intersection in the middle of rush hour on March 2 at about 5:30 pm. I wish I knew all your names. I'm so grateful to you for stopping what you were doing to lend a helping hand. Your efforts got her and her car safely out of traffic to the nearby parking lot.

As a regular reader of the Ahwatukee Foothills News, I'm used to seeing unsubstantiated columns in its Opinion pages, but Philip Moon's "So Much for Obama's Promises" (AFN, Oct. 27) was unique in one regard - Moon and I share an occupation; we are high school teachers. As an English instructor, I've added Moon's piece to my already-burgeoning "How Not To Write" file. Such writing helps my students from appearing disingenuous or academically deficient. Moon's essay is riddled with omissions and lacks evidence to support his claims. As a teacher - a teacher of science, no less - Moon should know better.
