Forty is a significant number in the Bible, and there are many instances of something happening for 40 days or 40 years. To name a few things that lasted for 40 days — during the time of Noah, it rained for 40 days and nights (Genesis 7:12); Moses met with God on the mountain for 40 days twice, first to obtain instructions for building the tabernacle and then to receive the 10 commandments (Exodus 24:18 and 34:28); the spies explored the land of Canaan for 40 days (Numbers 13:25); Goliath taunted the Israelites for 40 days until David put an end to him (1 Samuel 17:16); one meal gave Elijah enough strength to sustain him for 40 days (1 Kings 19:8); the city of Nineveh was given 40 days to repent (Jonah 3:4); Jesus fasted and was tempted by the devil for 40 days (Luke 4:2); after Jesus’ resurrection, He appeared on earth for a period of 40 days before ascending into heaven (Acts 1:3).
Four years ago Jalen Brown walked through the doors at Mountain Pointe highly-touted and wore No. 85 his freshman year.
Few actors have had a career as prolific as Danny Trejo. In 28 years as an actor, Trejo has had roles in more than 200 films and television shows, including “Heat,” “Breaking Bad,” “King of the Hill,” “Anchorman” and the “Spy Kids” series. His rugged face, gruff voice, long hair and copious tattoos have gotten him cast in numerous villainous roles, which have made him one of the most prominent character actors working in films today.

Talk about a promising duo for a dark mob comedy: Robert De Niro, whose mob-film pedigree needs no explanation, and Michelle Pfeiffer, who was, after all, “Married to the Mob.”
Tom Hanks didn’t know where the cameras were.
This time, we are not talking about Dr. Laura Schlessinger, Dog the Bounty Hunter, John Mayer, Michael Richards, Mel Gibson, Paula Deen, or Riley Cooper.

Humanity's home planet hardly merits the name-check in "After Earth," M. Night Shyamalan's sci-fi survival tale whose shipwreck action could (with the exception of a scene where our hero scrawls a crude map over Lascaux-like cave paintings) take place on any old life-supporting globe in the cosmos. The disappointingly generic film, which strands a father and son (Will and Jaden Smith) on Earth a thousand years after a planet-wide evacuation, will leave genre audiences pining for the more Terra-centric conceits of "Oblivion," not to mention countless other future-set films that find novelty in making familiar surroundings threatening. Will Smith's presence, not just as co-star but as originator of the story, seems likely to carry box office receipts beyond the benchmark of Shyamalan's previous picture, the wretched "The Last Airbender," but those hoping for a franchise should navigate elsewhere.
The Mountain Pointe baseball team began the postseason with the big-picture ideal that it would take 105 more outs to win a state title.

After attending a political meeting the other night, I’m convinced some people have forgotten what our great nation is all about. Have we forgotten “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?” Once upon a time, those God-given rights were the reality of life for this free nation.
Sorry, but Nancy Pelosi is wrong. We do have a spending problem and the heart of the matter is our inability to control medical costs. Spending on health care now consumes an astonishing 18 percent of our total economic output. Rising Medicare and Medicaid costs are the main drivers of our national debt crisis. Yet health care costs continue to shoot up relentlessly.
Expanding Arizona’s Medicaid program is vital to the wellbeing of children and their parents — our state’s working poor. As Arizona’s leading professional pediatric organization, we strongly urge support for Gov. Jan Brewer’s proposal.
So let’s look at Arizona’s reaction to the gun control controversy.

I would like to say thank you to everyone who stopped to help my son, Eric, after the red Ford F150 truck he was driving rolled over and crashed off Pecos Road on Nov. 14. In particular, I am so grateful to the ER nurse (I did not get your name) who reassured me on the phone that Eric was OK, until I could get from downtown back to Ahwatukee. You are all angels, and I am so blessed to be living in a community that cares about each other and helps others in need.

Did you know that every three minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer? Do you think breast cancer affects women only? Think again. Men are not exempt from breast cancer. Many breast cancers are fueled by estrogen, a hormone produced in fat tissue. Although there are numerous reasons why women predominantly experience estrogen dominance (use of birth control, menopause and pregnancy), both men and women are increasingly affected by estrogen dominance.
