The Mountain Pointe Pride baseball team, which started the season ranked 20th in the nation, lost 4-3 and was eliminated from the state playoffs by the 22nd seeded Gilbert Tigers at home on Tuesday in the second round of the Division I state tournament.
The Arizona Interscholastic Association released the state tournament brackets for basketball on Sunday and three area teams made the field. The Desert Vista boys earned the 15th seed in the Division I tournament and will host No. 18 Chandler on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Thunder (16-11) beat Chandler 67-57 on Feb. 5. The winner travels to No. 2 Dobson on Saturday.
