But because of good public schools and federal college aid, I was able to go from a kid whose parents didn’t speak much English to working for President Clinton in the White House and serving my country in uniform in the Navy reserve. That ladder of opportunity that is the bedrock of the American middle class is eroding and Washington isn’t doing enough to save it.

    Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) announced the hiring of Chris Reaves and Matt Lowney as corporate sales managers. In their new positions, Reaves and Lowney will focus on a variety of business development initiatives including sponsorship sales, ticketing, suites and other hospitality areas. Reaves joins PIR after spending four years with the Phoenix Coyotes where he most recently served as group sales account executive. His primary responsibilities with the Coyotes involved group sales of suites and hospitality areas. A native of Louisville, Ky., Reaves attended Slippery Rock University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management.

Hidden from the public, the city of Phoenix has now agreed to more than $100 million in increased compensation for city employees over the next two years.
