Why do you read? Maybe you like to enjoy a novel, where the hero always wins, or you could read to find out what history of governments are available. Everyone has heard of the World War II, and knows that we fought “strongmen” leaders of Germany, Italy, and Russia. Did you ever wonder why such dictators emerged? The people in these countries were no different than people of America. These countries had dictators as their leaders. These leaders had a fanatic need for power, and used this power to cruelly control their population. You might wonder what caused this to happen. If you read “The Road to Serfdom,” by F.A. Hayek, it is outlined in his book. These countries had, what Hayek calls, hot socialism. Hot socialism is when a government controls all production in the country (I think of this as communism). Segueing to America.
Since Obama became president, the purge of flag officers has accelerated more than any other time. Flag officers are generals and commanders. People are wondering why? I copied part of a list of purged officers, and after five pages, I decided that was enough. I had over a hundred names. I know of two issues that would cause this.
There seems to be many articles about inequality in America lately. Equality is found in socialist or communist nations. In these nations the government dictates to the workers: (1) what job they will have, (2) what pay, and benefits they will get, (3) what conditions they will be working under, (4) and what housing they will get. The worker doesn’t have a choice of these issues. The worker cannot refuse this work. If they refuse they will not be able to get food, or housing, etc. But they will have equality, if they do what the government wants.
There are so many unconstitutional acts used by President Obama that it is hard to chronicle all of his actions. One issue is his use of the Executive Orders that he keeps using. If he sends a bill to Congress and it doesn’t get passed, Obama issues an Executive Order to accomplish his actions. This, of course, is against the Constitution. The Constitution specifies that Congress passes bills, the president executes bills, and the Judiciary reviews them for constitutionality. By eliminating Congress from legislation he has decided to become a dictator of a Totalitarian government, and unfortunately is succeeding in his subterfuge.
We know all about past financial histories of failed governments. Every government with a fiat currency, like America’s, has failed. The maximum lifespan of fiat currencies has been 43 years. In America, we became a fiat currency in 1971, when Nixon took us off the gold standard. We are now in our 43rd year.
I don’t usually reply to any critics of my letters, but one critic didn’t seem to care that Obama was an Alinsky trained activist. Alinsky was an anarchist bent on destroying America, from the inside. He seemed to justify this by saying that Sen. John McCain had ties to terrorists. This is like saying that it is OK to be a bank robber, as long as your opponent is a bank robber. One writer volunteered that he had different information, and had gotten it from the New York Times. I had decided that the New York Times was not a reliable source.
Last week my son asked me a profound theological question: “Why did God make stinging bugs?” Stumped, I told him to talk directly to God about it. Pausing for just a moment to consider my inadequate answer, he countered, “You know I can’t talk to God; I’m not even dead yet!” In my son’s literal but complex 8-year-old mind, prayer does not qualify as “talking to God.” Thus, his many and variegated questions about the mysteries of the universe, the meaning of life, and the purpose of wasps and biting flies, will have to wait.
The Federal Reserve has been using interventionist actions since the early ‘60s. This action is what many refer to as Keynesian economics. In consort with the administration, the FED thinks that intervening into the market helps accelerate growth. It usually stimulates the market in the short term, but long term loads the government with debt that has to be paid back. Michael Pinto in his article “Rising Rate Realities” expressed it this way, “Because of the unprecedented and unsustainable amount of outstanding debt, central banks now face only two choices: (1) Stop printing money and allow a devastating deflationary cycle to pop the asset bubbles that exist in equities and real estate, or (2) continue expanding the money supply until hyperinflation eradicates the middle class and the economy.”
I have written before about Barack Obama appointing 33 czars (who are actually central planners), one to each economic sector. This letter is to explain the difference between a capitalist system, having competition as its basis, and a collective system, having central planners at its basis.
This fall America is going to have an election. This is not going to be an election for president, but the Republican party has shown that it doesn’t know how to win an election. John McCain would have had an easy win if he approached it as Sarah Palin wanted: she wanted to attack Barack Obama where he was most vulnerable, his defective character. Sen. McCain only wanted to attack Obamas’ policies, refusing to do as Palin advised. By his actions, he was allowing Obama to win.
Obama Care is going full force. They have been signing a lot of people up, and the media is suggesting that the people will fall in love with it. I was talking with a friend and asked him what metric would you use to indicate whether Obama Care is successful. We never came up with a metric. If 20 million people sign up and receive great service, would that be the metric that we should use?
Congressman Doug Collins writes that our military has a growing wave of anti-Christian hatred. He was a chaplain during the Iraq war, and when the government shutdown occurred orders came down from Obama to stop all Christian services during that time. Other incidents have also occurred: 1. Soldiers at Fort Hood were told that evangelical Christians should be considered enemies of America. 2. Soldiers who believe in Christ are targeted, while Muslims are welcome to display their prayer rugs publicly. 3. Many high-level officers have been let go, because they mentioned God, or Jesus in reports to the troops.
I have written before about Obama appointing 33 czars, to act as central planners. Central planners are required in communist countries, because the government needs to direct policy for all businesses. When we move from capitalism to communism you need to be aware of the differences. In capitalism all businesses work to make their business efficient, so they can compete in the market. In communism the effort is to be inefficient, so they can hire a lot of workers. Obama is going to direct his czars to audit each company, then set their workers salaries (usually 30-50 percent lower). The czars will then require each company to hire 30-50 percent more workers than needed. This will make each company much more inefficient, but because there is no competition it doesn’t matter how efficient you are.
I know shopping online is the craze nowadays, but it can be bland. I recall that thrill in trying out the latest gadgets at the local Five & Dime, the intrigue I felt in browsing through that Army Surplus store, the entice in a candy shop, and the joy I had in playing around at the toy store.
Southern California developer Wilson Gee and Pulte, the nation’s largest house developer, may be upending local neighborhoods with their development scheme — but the neighbors are stirring like hornets and stinging back.
