During this two-day course, adolescents age 11 through 13 will receive hands-on practice in basic life-saving techniques from trained Safe Sitter instructors, so they are prepared to respond to crisis situations.

    Chandler Regional Medical Center, a member of Catholic Healthcare West, celebrated the 10th anniversary of the hospital's cardiac catheterization laboratory (cath lab) on March 5. With a dedicated team of physician leaders and staff, Chandler Regional's cardiac cath lab has grown exponentially since its inception in 2001, from treating 147 patients in its first year to nearly 3,500 patients in 2010.

    A minimally invasive alternative to exploratory surgery is offered at Chandler Regional Medical Centers, members of Catholic Healthcare West (CHW). Chandler Regional is one of the only medical centers in the East Valley and as well as a few in the state where the Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) technology is available. This emerging procedure combines endoscopy with ultrasound technology for the examination of benign and malignant conditions of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, gallbladder, bile duct, liver and lymph nodes, or lesions in the chest and abdomen.

Beginning in March, patients with diabetes' needs will be cared for in the Center for Diabetes Management's new location in Gilbert, as well as in satellite offices.

    Catholic Healthcare West's (CHW) volunteer service, which consists of more than 550 volunteers serving Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers, as well as CHW Urgent Care centers in Ahwatukee, Gilbert and Queen Creek, will host the ninth annual Spina Bifida Bike Rally on Saturday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Chandler Regional Medical Center. These volunteers have committed to providing 20 bikes for Arizona children who have been afflicted with Spina Bifida.

    Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert medical centers are hosting Safe Journeys classes to educate parents and caregivers on how to properly install their child's safety seat. The certified child safety technicians will ensure that the car seats are installed correctly and are appropriate for the age, height and weight of the child. Classes will be offered at MGMC office building third floor, McAuley Auditorium located at 3420 S.
