I have rarely seen such an outpouring of affection on social media quite like the death of Leonard Nimoy today. At age 83, Nimoy had a large and accomplished body of work as an actor on screen, stage and television, as a director, producer, poet and photographer. Without the slightest doubt however, the outpouring of affection was for his character of Lt. Cmdr. Spock beginning with the original “Star Trek” series back in 1966.
Sweet Sierra perhaps should have been named Serenity. She is such a gentle, calm, and easy going kitty. Sierra doesn’t get involved in rough and tumble kitten nonsense; instead she values human companionship. Shy at first, this friendly, affectionate gal enjoys receiving attention from her people. Sierra also enjoys the companionship of other friendly kitties. She is a very adaptable, non-demanding kitty with so much love to give. We’d love to see her in a home that appreciates her sweet personality, her gentle demeanor, and loving heart.
The past few months have been a difficult season. Just when I think I’m about to catch a break from trials, something else happens. Many days I want to curl up in a corner and hide until I remember that nothing can happen unless God allows it.
Many of my customers bring home a puppy, and tell me “We’ve had NO problems yet! No potty accidents, chewing, digging, jumping, mouthing or counter surfing.” I call this the HONEYMOON period. Just wait.
Tessa, a 3-year-old sweet, gentle, affectionate gal, is happiest when spending time with her people. She has beautiful, bunny-soft fur that you just can’t keep from petting over and over again. Tessa especially enjoys petting if it involves ear rubs, chest rubs, chin scratches, or all of the above. It is fun to watch how much she appreciates being pet. Don’t be surprised if Tessa climbs into your lap for cuddle time. She’s hoping to not only score additional petting, but brushing as well. Tessa expresses contentment with soft purrs and occasional kitty kisses. If your lap suddenly becomes unavailable, Tessa is happy to retire to a high perch on the nearest kitty condo, where she is content to keep an eye on her surroundings. Tessa doesn’t really seem interested in toys — she’s much more interested in getting attention and affection from her people.
The holiday season is upon us, which can result in additional stress and anxiety due to time crunches, obligations, and demanding schedules. Minimizing stress, getting plenty of sleep, daily movement and sunshine, foregoing demanding obligations, and healthy eating is especially important since colds, flu and even depression tend to be more prevalent this time of year.
Roger, a 3-year-old Chinese Shar-Pei mix, is an intelligent dog with a lot of energy. He likes to play and gets very wiggly and silly. He needs to meet dogs before going home, as Roger prefers calm and easy going dogs. He really like treats, but will need training on how to wait and be patient. Roger’s a big and lovable dog, who just needs a family who is patient and experienced enough to handle his energy needs and training.
The final shot of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” certainly left audiences pumped for the following installment. Seeing that fierce glare in Katniss’ eyes, all you wanted to do was charge into battle alongside her. Given the adrenaline rush the previous film provided, it’s a bit disappointing that “Mockingjay – Part 1” isn’t the grand final confrontation. Rather, it’s more of a calm before the big storm. That doesn’t make the film bad. It’s still remarkably acted, thought provoking, and light-years ahead of most movies being targeted at teenagers. Still, “Mockingjay – Part 1” also leaves you wishing for the good-old days when epic stories were told within three movies max.
Flame, a beautiful 2-year-old cat, was left in an abandoned apartment in a rolling file box with food and water. A maintenance worker heard her crying and brought her to PetSmart where our caring volunteers jumped into action. As we pulled her from the file box, she was very relaxed, calm and started purring as soon as we picked her up. Flame now is safe in her new foster home while she puts on some weight and waits for her perfect forever home, where she will never be left behind again.
When Disney acquired the rights to Marvel, nobody knew what to make of the union. With one best known for wholesome family entertainment and the other geared more towards intense action intended for older audiences, would they really blend well together? “Big Hero 6” is clear-cut evidence these two innovative companies are a match made in heaven.
Lil Bit is a 5-year-old dilute torti Maine coon with gorgeous light blue eyes. She and her siblings came to Lost Our Home after their owner passed away. Lil Bit can appear a little shy at first, but eventually will trust those new to her. Overall, she is a very sweet cat who likes to be around other cats and people. She likes to play with toys, climb on top of a tall cat condo to watch others, and enjoys being brushed. She will require a calm and loving family to take care of her and give her a safe place to live.
