It’s a fact, when it comes to buying or selling any house the kitchen gets the No. 1 scrutiny and can make or break the sale. It is the most used space in the house and has the most expensive components concentrated in one spot. The kitchen has been the most evolved room in the house and does not look nor function the same as yesterday’s kitchen.

A boxing gym may not seem like the place for a clean, family-friendly environment, but that’s exactly why owner Terry Packer said he decided to open Title Boxing Club in Ahwatukee Foothills.
So here we are, December, again. As I get older it certainly seems to get here faster every year. I feel like I was just chatting with folks about what may happen in real estate in 2013. It turned out we had some interesting things happen here in our market. The year started off strong with lots of appreciation and a great demand from buyers. The buying frenzy continued through June until it sort of fell off a cliff in the summer. When we usually see the October pick up, the government shut down for three weeks and that changed the typical cycle for that time of year. We had a nice increase in buyer interest towards the end of the year and from what we can see now the spring season will be typical for our area.

Since taking office 21 months ago, I have made building a strong economy that works for every Phoenix family my highest priority.
Arizona, specifically the metropolitan Phoenix market, is among the strongest commercial real estate markets in the United States and is quickly rising as one of the most resilient markets to recover since the onset of the recent recession. While overall, multifamily, office and industrial property values have posted positive net absorption numbers in recent quarters, it is the retail market that is finally stabilizing and showing promise of improvement.

It seems like it was just a few short months ago we could not keep a listing on the market. The house went active on the MLS, received multiple offers, and then it was gone. It felt like it was all in a matter of days, maybe even hours. I had buyers say forget it I cannot keep up with this competition, and they stopped looking. Now, it feels like houses are sitting for weeks with no movement. Uh, oh … time to panic; time to make a drastic price reduction? Before you make big decisions, know this, this cycle is normal. Phew!

Global Bikes is committed to being active in the community so when the owners had a chance to purchase a new location in Ahwatukee — a very active biking community — they jumped at the chance.
Last month, the Dow Jones Industrial Average hit a milestone, when, for the first time, it closed above 15,000. Of course, 15,000 is a nice, round number, and it sounds pretty big — but what does it mean to you, as an individual investor? Is it cause for celebration — or is it more of a “caution” flag?
Americans are more confident in the U.S. economy than at any point in the past five years, thanks to surging home values, a brighter job market and record-setting stock prices. Stock averages last month extended the year’s explosive rally. Further gains in consumer confidence could help the economy withstand the effects of higher taxes and federal spending cuts that kicked in this year. Spending by consumers drives about 70 percent of economic growth.
Spring is in the air and the desert is entering its cycle of new life. However, for the Ahwatukee community, that could mean more than seasonal allergies.
It may not be as mainstream a form of expression these days as, say, Instagram, but poetry, that old-fashioned art of arranging language to create an emotional response through meaning, sound and rhythm, is alive and well.
As spring temperatures warm, be ready to increase the irrigation cycle on some watering zones around your house. To make sure your spring-summer garden transition happens easily, complete a thorough irrigation check-up to detect any existing and potential problems — before temperatures rise and timely watering becomes a crisis.
Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton said the state of the city is strong, but that the local economy needs to be the focus moving forward.
Something needs to be done about the bicyclists on Pecos Road. They are creating hazardous situations for themselves and drivers. Recently, I was heading west on Pecos as I normally do. This time there was a van in the right-hand lane and I was in the left-hand lane. The van slowed down and made a right on to 17th Street. Just then, a bicyclist darted across Pecos Road, I swerved to avoid him, coming within 3 feet and doing 50 mph. Thank goodness there were clouds this evening because the sun is normally in my eyes at this time. Sometimes these folks are in packs of 15 to 20 bikes. And not staying on the shoulder in the bike lane, but riding in the car lane.
