Gus is a 5-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who will seek out attention and loves getting pet. He would like to find a home with a nice lap to sit on all day. When people at the shelter see him they call his name and he gets so wiggly and happy and he jumps into their arms and gives them kisses.

Looking for a little buddy to hang out with, go on walks, go to the Farmer’s Market, or just sit around and read the Ahwatukee Foothills News? Well, Chris is your guy! He is about the best little dog a person could want. He gets along well with other dogs, doesn’t mind little kids hanging all over him, and would possibly be OK with a feline sibling or two. Chris is a 5-year-old male Jack Russell Terrier mix who came to the Arizona Animal Welfare League because his owner fell on hard times and was unable to keep him any longer, not because of any other reason other than he no longer had a house to live in and wanted a better life for Chris than living on the streets. Chris is an absolute staff favorite and currently resides in the dog adoption manager’s office because she cannot bear to put him in a kennel because he’s just that perfect.
Kimber is an active 3-year-old female Beagle mix who is housebroken and can use a doggie door. She gets along great with her foster brothers and loves to play and wrestle. She is crate trained and loves to cuddle and give kisses. Kimber would be good with older kids, probably best for kids 10 and older since she is little food aggressive. She does not bark much except at meal times to tell you she is hungry. She walks well on a leash and likes to explore.
Today JB the Bernese Mountain Dog is an award winner and a professional model, but at 8 months old he was a bullied puppy whose owners couldn’t keep him around.
The way Fido wags his tail might reveal more about him than you know. Just ask another dog.
Caramel is a sweet 11-year-old Beagle girl whose owner moved away and left her behind. She is so easygoing and very obedient. She likes to just hang out, take naps and sniff around the yard. Caramel gets along well with other dogs and children. Since she is a bit overweight she would benefit from more exercise and less food. Dieting is hard and Caramel is hungry so if there is more than one dog in the home it would be best to feed her separately.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Every year about this time, millions of turkeys are fattened up so American households can chow them down. But in "Free Birds," two brave turkeys make it their mission to travel back in time and get their breed off the Thanksgiving menu.
Alex is a very sweet little boy that is happy to be alive. He is a typical Terrier with an independent side. So he doesn’t have to be constantly entertained. Alex enjoys long walks and investigating everything he comes across. Again, like most Terriers he is very food motivated and loves to learn new things so he’s an easy student. Alex can be very affectionate and loves to give sweet kisses. You can be certain that when your day is done and it is time to relax, Alex will be right there by your side. He is looking for a family who wants to share his joy of walks and checking out the big world around him, but also one that likes to relax and enjoy some cuddle time and even a good tummy rub. You will not be disappointed with this cutie pie in your life so take a minute and check him out. He just might be the cute little boy to complete you family.
Paisley is a sweet 2-year-old female Beagle. She loves to be around people, but other dogs just terrify her. She was attacked by another dog so it will take patience, love and some professional training for her to feel comfortable around other dogs. Until then, Paisley will do great being an only dog in the household. She is housebroken and rarely barks. She does need to be kept on a leash because, like most Beagles, she will take off to follow a scent. Her coat is very soft and she lets everyone hold and pet her.

Rowan, 1, is not your typical tri-color Beagle, but more of a chocolaty kind. She has a slight heart murmur but that does not stop her from playing or snuggling or just looking cute and living a long life with regular vet visits. She likes other dogs and people.
Maya is a 4 1/2-year-old American Pit Bull/Chinese Shar-Pei mix. She originally came to the Arizona Animal Welfare League on March 1, 2012, and then adopted exactly a month later. She was then returned to AAWL earlier this year when it was found that while she is very social and loves the dog park and other dogs, she isn’t a fan of living in the same home with them. Maya is a very shy girl and it takes a while for her to warm up to any new human friend, but once she does, she has a way of stealing your heart and making you fall for her.
Dori is a silly female Boxer blend, about 2 years old. She was found as a stray, but since no one claimed her she must now find a new family to love. It’s possible she’s had at least one litter of pups before she became a stray, but she is spayed now.
Tau, a 2-year-old Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix, had a rough start to life, he was found with two other dogs in the desert searching for food, water and affection. Despite what has happen to him, Tau is a sweet boy who loves to give kisses and tries to sit in your lap. Don’t be surprised if you have to remind him what it’s like to live in a home and have a family that loves him.
Zoey May is a sweet 10-year-old Beagle girl whose owners lost their home so now she is homeless. She loves to be petted and hanging out with her foster parents. She loves to go on daily walks, is housebroken, doggie-door trained, and crate trained. Zoey May would be best with kids over 12. She gets along great with other dogs, too.
Buddy D’Elf is an 11-year-old Beagle, who acts and plays like he’s 7. He came down from a land northeast of Phoenix to look for his new forever home. He can go from being a very active Beagle to being a couch potato who likes to snuggle. He loves to go for walks, but has to take his time so he can check out the great smells out in the world. He likes to ride like a person in the backseat of the car and occasionally likes to get up and take a look out the window. He gets along great with other dogs, too.
Siblings Ashley and Peanut are 5-year-old Terrier/Pit Bull females. We would love for them to go home together and are offering an adoption special in hopes that they will. Together their adoption fee is $200 with free leash and collar sets. They both are spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and have 30 days of free pet insurance.

Even if everything Secretary of State John Kerry says about chemical weapons in Syria were true, the evidence would prove only that Bashar al-Assad committed crimes against civilians. It would not prove that the U.S. government has either the moral or legal authority to commit acts of war.
Peete is a 9-year-old, active Beagle boy. Unlike most Beagles, he enjoys floating on a raft in the pool, as you can see by his picture. He’d love to hang out with you in your pool too, if you have one. But if you don’t, that’s OK too; he would be just as happy cuddling with you on your lap, or taking walks with you. Peete is a very peppy boy, but also loves naps, of course. His foster mom says that Peete is great with other dogs and is very obedient. His only weakness: young children (under 10) make him nervous, but he loves older kids.
Heroes can come in all shapes and sizes, whether two-legged humans or four-legged dogs.
Gunther is a male Beagle/Basset blend ... can you tell which part is which? His body is that of a Basset Hound and his head/coloring is that of a Beagle. His nose is all hound! He’s said to be about 3 years old.
