The 18th Annual Festival of Lights Kick-Off Party is one the public will not want to miss this Saturday, according to organizers.

Acclaimed by Rand McNally as one of the top activities in the country on Thanksgiving Day, Heard Museum will be hosting its annual Harvest Feast from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28 where museum chefs combine indigenous ingredients with American Indian culture.
On the first Friday of every month, Arizona Science Center invites adults to enjoy the museum’s three floors, in addition to the special exhibit ‘Imaginate.’ October’s event features a “Fear the Beer” garden, music from DJ Dragon, a talk from biochemist and physicist Frederic Zanhausern on Forensic DNA, and a screening of “The Truth Behind CSI TV” in the IMAX. Seating for the screening is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Center also offers Innovation Kids’ Night Out from 5:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. for those in need of childcare. Kids ages 3-11 can learn and play while their parents enjoy the adult programming.

On Aug. 10, I had the honor of leading more than 50 Pi Kappa Phi cyclists into the U.S. Capitol. The Journey of Hope this summer was the best experience of my life. Throughout the two and a half months, 13 states, and 4,000 miles, I learned a lot about myself and saw both the joy and the struggles of people living with disabilities.
Grabbing a bite and a drink at Tempe Marketplace is a good bet anytime, but your dining dollars can really make a difference there on Sept. 29.
