The 17th Annual Alpha Kappa Osi Open will have a different feel to it this year.

It will be in honor of Connie Gavin, who died in November after a battle with cancer. Her son, Scott, has found a way to feel connected to his mom making 100 percent of the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society and Make-a-Wish Foundation of Arizona. Scott and his fraternity decided to use this opportunity to make a difference in something that so greatly affected Scott’s life and the lives of so many others. After watching his mother battle cancer, Scott really wanted to do what he could in order to make a difference in the war against cancer.

The event is Sept. 14 at the Legacy Golf Resort, 6808 S. 32nd St., and is a 6:30 a.m. shotgun start.

The cost $100, which includes golf, range balls and lunch.

For more information, contact Scott at (480) 200-6856 or scgavin@asu.edu.
