It was the first of what the Mountain Pointe boys volleyball program hopes to be many to come.

Former players from the last 15 years got together on December 27 for an alumni tournament at the high school that was started to help cultivate the program.

"This has been an amazing ride," Mountain Pointe coach Fred Mann said. "I've been wanting to do this for some time now, and finally it is here. I (was) very excited to see this great turn out of players."

While the first-year event didn't raise any money, the hope is to get the word out about it so it gets bigger in years to come while adding a golf tournament, possibly in the spring, to help with the program's expenses.

This year's field had four six-man teams that was won by Scott Berry, David Azstalos, Shawn Keeler, Marin Jerolimov, Stefan Brule, and Drew Manusharow, who was named MVP.
