Ahwatukee Foothills resident Kelly Andrew helped Xavier win the state sand volleyball title, a pilot program introduced by Arizona Interscholastic Association this spring.

Xavier beat Fountain Hills in the finals to secure the championship on April 17.

Five teams qualified for state and the Gators were the top seed as they knocked off fourth-seeded Valley Vista and second-seeded Fountain Hills for the title.
