The Ahwatukee Baseball Complex Project still has life.

A week after Ron Passmore, the Ahwatukee Foothills resident who started the grassroot project, sent out an email saying his proposal to the Kyrene School District Governing Body was denied, clarification has been made.

It wasn't rejected outright. Passmore was just notified by email that he missed a deadline.

On Tuesday, Dec. 13 the Kyrene governing board will start discussing ideas what to do with the 28 acres it own at its meeting.

After that the district will take proposals, set up an evaluation committee and bring options to the board for approval.

Passmore and his group, he has received help from Ronaldo Henderson, who works for a non-profit organization that builds youth baseball called Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities, can submit a proposal.

The ABC Project has all of the equipment and materials needed, including lighting, to build an eight-field state-of-the-art complex here in Ahwatukee that would call for a public /private partnership where the district would retain ownership of the land, and the ABC Project would develop and maintain the complex.
