Desert Vista senior Mike Arredondo and Ahwatukee Foothills resident Chandler Hovik, a senior at Cesar Chavez, were honored this past weekend at a banquet recognizing the National Football Federation Scholar Athletes in Scottsdale.
Arredondo was the emotional leader and tough-minded linebacker for the Thunder, and Hovik was the unquestioned leader at quarterback for the Champions.
