Sedona Golf Resort has announced it will host the inaugural Sedona Bike & Brew Festival Aug. 22-23.
The special event, believed to be the first of its kind, features a mountain bike race on the golf course.
The event kicks off at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, with rider registration and a leisurely group ride, so that the racers can see the track for the first time. The 6-mile course will take the riders around all 18 holes, 80 acres of fairways, tee boxes, cart paths, and natural and manmade features.
After the race, the Juniper Bar & Grille (Sedona Golf Resort’s restaurant), will host dinner along with music, and Tempe’s Four Peaks Brewing Co. will be pouring eight to 10 varieties of its local craft beers.
Time trials start at 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, and will include six different competition classifications for men, women and juniors.
Racing will conclude with an awards ceremony, music, food, drink and silent auction benefiting the Verde Valley Cycling Coalition.
There is no admission fee for the general public, and food and drink will be available for purchase.
The racers fee is $75 per person or $150 for the VIP package. Both packages include a certificate to come back at a later date and play golf at Sedona Golf Resort. Juniors age 17 and under are free. To sign up or for more information, visit www.sedonagolfresort.com/race.
