For the third year in a row, Mountain Pointe track athlete Aaron Ramirez proved he is the best in the nation.

The 16-year-old Ahwatukee resident won the javelin event with a throw of 172-05 feet on Sunday, June 25 USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships on the campus of Southern Illinois in Edwardsville, Ill.

Ramirez won the same event the previous two year and took this year’s event despite not reaching his person record.

His younger brother, Alex, is also a former national champion but he didn’t compete this year because he is on the Ahwatukee Little League’s 10-11 baseball team that is in the midst of the District 13 tournament.
