The Red Spikers, a girl's volleyball team made up of players in fourth through sixth grades, won the final Ahwatukee YMCA summer tournament of the year on Aug. 7.

The team won the championship game 25-19 and 25-23 against the Purple Spikers team. The Red Spikers won a total of three matches in the tournament all by the way of a two-game sweep.

The Purple Spikers were the No. 1 seed and defeated the Red Spikers early in the season.

The two squads scrimmaged against each other year-long and so it was fitting that they met in the final game of the season.
