Winter sports began practicing Oct. 1 and the season openers are just around the corner.

Here is the look at the first games for each sport:

Boys basketball

Desert Vista opens the season on Nov. 29 at Pinnacle.

Mountain Pointe opens the year at home on Nov. 23 against McClintock.

The two rivals square off twice in the regular season - Jan. 13 and Feb. 2.

Horizon Honors starts the year on the road at Arizona Lutheran Academy Nov. 22.

Girls basketball

Desert Vista hosts Pinnacle on Nov. 29.

Mountain Pointe starts the year in the Highland Thanksgiving Tournament with the first game coming against Gilbert on Nov. 21.

The two teams square off twice in the regular season - Jan. 13 and Feb. 2.

Horizon Honors starts the year on the road at Arizona Lutheran Academy Nov. 22.

Boys soccer

Mountain Pointe and Desert Vista start the season off against each other on Nov. 29 at Desert Vista. They also play on Dec. 20 at Mountain Pointe.

Horizon Honors opens the year on the road Nov. 22 at Maricopa.

Girls soccer

The Thunder travel to Mountain Pointe on Nov. 29. They play against at Desert Vista on Dec. 20.

Horizon Honors hosts Tempe Prep on Nov. 21.

Wrestling

Both Desert Vista and Mountain Pointe, along with Glendale Mountain Ridge, open the season with a tri-meet on Nov. 22 at Desert Vista.
