ASU Karsten celebrating 23rd anniversary

The ASU Karsten Golf Course is celebrating its 23rd anniversary this month by offering golfers $23 golf fees through Sept. 23. Tee times can be made up to seven days in advance by calling (480) 921-8070 or by visiting www.asukarsten.com.

The $23 rate is a $13 savings off the typical $36 rate. This special rate includes a golf cart and is available anytime Monday through Friday and after 8:30 am on Saturdays and Sundays.

ASU Karsten Golf Course opened on Sept. 15, 1989. No tax dollars or university funds were used to build the golf course — only private funds. The largest single contributor to the project was Karsten Solheim, founder of PING Golf. Over the last 23 years, prominent Sun Devil golf alumni who have played on the ASU Karsten Course including Phil Mickelson, Paul Casey, Wendy Ward, Grace Park and Anna Nordqvist.

Since 1989 the ASU golf teams have produced 47 Collegiate Golf All-Americans (21 men and 26 ladies) and nine NCAA Team Titles (men 2, ladies 7).
