Ahwatukee resident Brendan Hicks is a member of the SC Del Sol Boys 2000 Leebrook team that qualified for the National Premier League’s Mountain Developmental League Playoff Championship to the 2014 NPL National Finals in North Carolina in July.

The NPL Finals features the champions of all 17 NPLs across the United States in the U-13 through U-18 boys and girls age groups. Teams will play several group games before advancing to knockout rounds to determine the NPL national champion in every age group.

One of the most prestigious championships in the country, the NPL Finals is the targeted destination for all NPL teams throughout the yearlong, league-based competition each season.

Hicks, who will be a freshman at Desert Vista, and his team are also the 2014 Arizona State Champions for Boys 2000 and will also play in the AYSA Regional Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to earn a spot at AYSA Nationals.

Curtis headed to Pima C.C.

Recent Mountain Pointe graduate Natrell Curtis will play football next season for Pima Community College, the school announced on Twitter.

Curtis, a 6-foot-4, 340-pound lineman, originally committed to Washington during the season, then de-committed before choosing Oklahoma in January.
